life support is possibly the cruelest invention human beings could devise. you make someone who [if you believe in any morality] should be dead who's mind is gone, who's personality is gone, who's just plain gone, stick around to suffer through their death over a long period of time. I suppose that it's easier for the families. Instead of the acute sharp killer wretchedness of losing a loved one, it subsides to more of a dull thuding pain that hits you in small spurts over a longer period of time. My grandpa is not dead, but he's not in the living world anymore. His body is here, but I don't know if he would want it to stay alive when it's only a physical representative of him.
